Course Objective
By the end of the course students will be familiar with the 4 main aspects of anatomy and physiology. They will have a better understanding of how their body functions during kung fu training.

Content
Anatomy & Physiology training for Martial Arts Students covers: Bones & joints, Muscles & Tendons, Organs, Diet & Nutrition.

Tuition
Delivered by a fully qualified teacher.

Certification
A BKFA Anatomy & Physiology Certificate is issued on completion. BKFA students must have completed the course before undertaking their Black Sash Grading. It is recommended that students seek to attend the course any time from Blue to Brown sash.

Exemption
If a student has a recognised high level qualification such as Degree in Biology or A level biology then a student may be exempt from attendance and only needs to obtain a BKFA certificate signed by the instructor but it is the instructor’s responsibility to ensure that they have the necessary knowledge on the topics listed above.

Take this exciting opportunity to explore what lies beneath the techniques of Lau Gar. You will gain a deeper insight into the 8 powers and nineteen keywords that are the essential techniques of Lau Gar Kuen (Lau Family Fists) and practise effective drills and applications to further develop your speed, power and efficiency. Throughout this intensive training weekend, you’ll learn directly from Grandmaster Yau, Master Russell and the Lau Gar Guardians. Suitable for all skill levels, our new training programme explores a variety of Lau Gar open hand, stick and sword techniques, including internal training. It will enhance your syllabus training and help you achieve your full potential.
From Friday evening through to Sunday afternoon, you’ll combine stimulating group training sessions with relaxed social time to meet friends old and new. Enjoy excellent facilities on this fully residential course at the Lilleshall National Sport Centre, which is set in 330 acres of English Heritage Grade II listed grounds. It includes single room* accommodation for 2 nights with breakfast, lunch and dinner on Saturday - and breakfast and lunch on Sunday. All dietary requirements are catered for.

Description:
BKFA Black Sash gradings for all levels of Black sash will be undertaken in front of the Panel. All applicants must register and provide all the necessary information one week before the grading date. This includes a signed authorisation form from their instructor.

Open to Purple sashes and above. The course is free to any Black sash who wishes to attend.

Coaching Course 2: Objective
By the end of the course you will understand the general principles involved in training for physical performance, know some of the underlying theory associated with the learning (and teaching) of physical skills and be able to apply these in your role as a BKFA instructor.
 
Content
This will be accomplished by looking at:
Skills and how they are developed for Kung Fu training
Reaction times and reflexes
Types of muscle (fast and slow twitch fibres)
Muscle action (concentric, eccentric and isometric)
How to use the body’s protective reflexes
Good Coaching Qualities
